Homeowner Mara Hallisey shares why she loved working with Cindy Wilson at Viking Kitchens for her kitchen remodel in Wethersfield, CT.

“I’m surprised at how much I love the end product…it’s just exactly what I wanted,” says homeowner Mara Hallisey.

“Our kitchen needed to be remodeled, but I’m not really big into remodeling, so I didn’t really know where to start.”

Not only that, but the project had to be completed within a two-week timeframe while the family was out of the country. And, as Mara explains, there was a lot of work to be done: “I was really overwhelmed with all of the decisions that had to be made. There were so many details that needed to be taken care of. Cindy made the process so much easier for me.”

Mara felt that she was leaving the project in good hands, from both a project management and design perspective: “Cindy asked such great questions. She helped me narrow things down and really figure out what my aesthetic was without making me feel like she was picking out my whole kitchen for me…”

To maximize style and minimize clutter, Cindy chose Diamond Cabinetry for color, design, and unique storage options, like a soft close drawer under the stove top, and corner drawers in the lower cabinets. Cindy’s thoughtful design even included a special coffee nook with double coffee makers: “We’re so busy, especially in the mornings and with four daughters, that we just don’t have time to make two pots of coffee—so we run a pot of regular and a pot of decaf at the same time,” explains Mara.

“I love that everything has its place, that our goal was really to not have a lot of things on the counters, that my big KitchenAid mixer has a spot, my 20-qt stock pot has a spot, everything can be put away with no clutter.”

“The other thing that I really love is the countertops. I honestly thought I would only find a countertop I would sort of like…but in fact I actually just love it. It’s very soothing to me and I love the design.”

And how does Mara feel about her new kitchen? “What excites me the most is how much work space I have. With my four daughters, there’s always kids coming in and out. And so not surprisingly, the island has become the gathering place. I just love that when I’m cooking there’s always a different daughter with a different set of friends sitting at the countertop and enjoying the space.”
